History
Stellarhart Cattery began breeding cats in 1985. We began our adventure in cats with the Siamese breed. Over the years, notable cats from our cattery were Hanah, Coco, Niki, Aries, Lila, and Andromeda "Andy". We truly loved our Siamese and placed many kittens into good homes. Our breeding goals with the Siamese were to produce a healthy, large-bodied, rabbit-furred, good-tempered cat. Over the years, we had good success in reaching these goals. One goal that eluded us was producing a queen who behaved well with new feline house mates.
After years of trying to have our Siamese get along with their feline house mates; we began looking for another breed to develop. In 1990, our neighbor Mike purchased a pet Ragdoll named "Rufus" and we enjoyed the sweet nature of this breed of cat.
Upon seeing this excellent ragdoll behavior, and because we were tired of playing "musical rooms" with our adult Siamese queens, we decided to adopt the Ragdoll cat as the foundation of the Stellarhart Cattery. We chose to breed Ragdolls after careful consideration of a number of breeds that we found very attractive but seemed to lack one or more of the characteristics that was existing in our beloved Ragdoll kittens and cats.
